Does LW adhere to a strict sense of "rules" and what are some of the rules or design standards mentioned? (In the preface and 'how to use this book')

He doesn’t remain to strict sense of rules and makes everything very prefect, but he shows us how he designs web pages to make successful. However, he does follow rules, and he created his own designs for his web pages. Also, he wants to teach his students to create web page designs, so they have to follow his rules to make site successful.
